This whole mom thing is a HUGE learning curve. Everyone tells you that "a baby doesn't come with a manual" and that "you have to do what's best for your baby". As we are faced with every day and every choice, I am finding those phrases to be so true.
I started noticing small bumps and irritation that had developed all over Carter's body. This started the goose hunt to figure out what he was allergic to. Thankfully, he didn't seem uncomfortable or itchy, but I knew that those bumps weren't supposed to be there.
After the process of elimination, I determined that Carter's skin was being irritated by his Johnson and Johnson products. After I realized that was the problem, I started googling and found some CRAZY facts about the J&J products ... YIKES!!
J&J, like many other cosmetic companies, is full of harsh chemicals and is surprisingly really harsh on adult and baby skin. Here is an interesting article by the NY Times with additional details. We have since switched to The Honest Company & Aveeno products and all skin irritation is gone and mommy, Daddy and Baby are happy.
Moral of the story? Knowledge is power. Research products and do what's best for your baby and your family. You got this, mama!
Xoxo,
Mel
