Colorado Catch Up; Monday May 26

By Melody Warren - 10:17:00 AM

Hey Friends!

Happy Memorial Day! I hope everyone is enjoying this (much needed) 3-day weekend. I know I am. For me, this weekend has been full of a lot of R&R. Brunches, dinners, movies, and naps. Yes Please.

Between work and wedding planning, I have been a little behind with my posting. So today's post will be dedicated to my Colarado Trip! On Friday May 2, I said goodbye to H-Town and spent the weekend in GORGEOUS Colorado Springs, CO. My mom and I did this trip last year as well ( click here to read all about that trip ). So we HAD to go back!

The reason for the trip is the annual Women's Weekend of Wellness hosted at The Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs. We stayed for 2 nights/3 days and enjoyed hiking, yoga, the scenery, and each other. Here are some pictures from the trip!

Riding the cog railroad to the top of Pike's Peak

America The Beautiful was written from atop Pike's Peak. I was pretty inspired, too!

Consdering that Houston is below sea level, it was pretty impressive that we could even breathe at 14,000 feet high!

1 of the top 10 coolest things I have ever done in my life

Kid at heart

We love you, Broadmoor! We WILL be back!

Talk Nerdy To Me Tuesday; April 29

By Melody Warren - 11:05:00 AM

Hey Y'all!

Sorry I missed yesterday's blog! Between work, workout, family time, errands, etc... the day got away from me!

First, lets do a quick weekend wrap up. Friday was spent hanging out with Terrance's Dad and Family, which was a lot of fun. His dad lives in East Texas, so when he is in Houston, it is always nice to spend some quality family time together.

Saturday was spent running errands and getting some work done. In case you missed it, Terrance started his own company ( Warren T Fitness ) and business has been booming! Click here to read all about it. So on Saturday, we spent some time getting some work done for his company. I couldn't be prouder of him.

Sunday was GREAT, too! Started the day with some yoga and surprise roses from my sweet man!!! How did I get so lucky? Then, Lourdes, Joel, Terrance and I had brunch at Brenner's on the Bayou. Yummmmmmm! After eating the entire menu, and having 4 pitchers of Mimosas, it was time that we go home and do something productive. Terrance went home and worked and I went to meet Shannon and her family for her birthday dinner. It was lovely and so fun!!

Speaking of birthday's.... Yesterday was my dear friend Mary-Margaret Malone's birthday and Today is Shanny's Birthday! Love you both SO much and send you both all of the love in the world!!

Today's "Talk Nerdy To Me" topic is my new cell phone!! My sweet man bought me the Samsung Galaxy S5 and I. Am. Obsessed. I am already a converted Samsung user and Terrance always says that we have a "Samsung Household" haha! But the Galaxy S5 is really legit. The phone is light weight, sleek, water proof, pretty, and has all kinds of amazing features.

As always, a special thank you and shout out to my man for getting me this phone- LOVE IT!

Lastly- Gratitude Journal Entry, Tuesday April 29: Today I am grateful for Schlumberger. I started working for SLB in January and it has been an amazing opportunity. Between the people, the challenges, the learning opportunities, the trainings, etc etc... I feel blessed and grateful and excited for what my future holds in this company.

Make it a great day!

Thought Provoking Thursday; April 24

By Melody Warren - 7:04:00 AM

Hey Y'all!

Today's blog theme is, "Thought Provoking Thursday". My goal is to challenge you and make you think. The same way that people in my life have challenged me.

Goal Setting: In yesterday's post (click here) I shared with you some of my fitness goals. Something I learned from working at Lululemon is to be a "Goal Digger". Setting short term and long term goals for yourself and sticking to them make you more accountable and inspiring. Also, these goals consist of more things that just fitness. Thing about your life, and your balance, and what you want to achieve in what areas. Since this is my blog, and my online diary, and I keep it real with everyone, I am going to share some of my goals with you all.

Short Term Goals
** Health **
- Get up Mon-Fri before work and do my cardio #TeamSexy
- Drink. More. Water.
- Take the FREE Yoga class at work
- Take Terrance's Boot Camp 2x a week
- Stick to my meal plan

** Personal **
- Pray daily & Blog daily
- Read
- Devote time to Wedding Planning
- Meet my mom for lunch
- Love on Terrance everyday and BE FABULOUS!

** Work **
- Be at work before 8am, leave before 5pm.

Long Term Goals
** Health **
- Run a Half-Marathon
- Be the best version of myself and healthier than I was when I was 20.
- Sweat (at least) once every day

** Personal **
- Marry the love of life
- Get a new car!
- Save Money!
- Be in the audience at The Ellen Show
- Visit and experience every state in the USA
- Take a dance class (at least) once a month
- Be an inspiration for others. Make a difference.

** Work **
- Continue with Schlumberger and be in a bigger and better role, making bigger and better money

Just like with anything else, these goals will change, be attained, and the list will continue to grow. I am happy to share these with y'all and hopefully inspire you to set some goals for yourself, too!

One more challenge for you... keeping a gratitude journal. We are all grateful for things, people, opportunities, and experiences in our lives, but how often do we stop and appreciate them? Consider keeping a Gratitude Journal. Take the time and effort to stop and write it down. It can be anything! Just find the positivity in your life and in your day and show it your appreciation.

Gratitude Journal Entry: Today I am grateful for this blog. I am thankful for being able to share my words and my life with all of you! It has been therapeutic for me and inspirational for others, which is more than I could have asked for.

Talk Nerdy To Me Tuesday; April 22

By Melody Warren - 7:18:00 AM

Hey Y'all!

I was thinking that each day of the week on my blog could have a different theme. What do we think? This being said, I want to make Tuesdays, "Talk Nerdy To Me Tuesdays" where I can share some of my nerdy tendencies. Crafting, Cooking, Wedding Planning, Reading, New Hobbies, etc...

Nerdy comment number 1: Happy Earth Day! Go outside today and celebrate the Earth! Conserve some electricity, turn off your faucet while brushing your teeth, recycle, or look at this funny advertisement from Apple. Yikes! #TeamSamsung

Nerdy comment number 2: Boston Strong! Check out this article I found on BuzzFeed called, "20 People Who Didn't Let Last Years Boston Marathon Keep Them Away". The perseverance of the Human Spirit is pretty amazing. #BostonStrong. Also, the winner of the race, American Meb Keflezighi, finished with a time of 2:08. Casually.

Nerdy comment number 3: Wedding Update. What a special time this is. Sometimes it can be overshadowed with work and the hustle and bustle of life, but I am so grateful and thankful to be able to plan a gorgeous wedding to a gorgeous man in a little less than 6 months!

My nerdy, OCD self has created a Wedding Binder full of dividers and check lists. The most current wedding planning obsessions include;

- The Wedding Program
- The welcome bags/guest favors
- The wedding reception music
- AND the amazing Bridal Shower that my mom is planning for me!

I'll be sure to keep you updated on the wedding planning process...

Last but not least, my gratitude Journal Entry, Tuesday April 22: Today I am grateful for my health. After reading all of the Boston Marathon stories, and reflecting back to the tragedy last year, I am so thankful for what I have. I am thankful for the ability and resources to exercise, eat clean, and maintain a healthy lifestyle. What are you grateful for?

Xoxo,
