Stormy Season

By Trials By Melody - 8:24:00 AM

Hello!

As you may have noticed, I took a little bit of a break from social media and blogging. A reset of sorts. I needed this break from my online life while I worked on getting my real life sorted.

I was faced with a serious road block in my life. Something that shook me to my core.

I was prepared for the good. But I wasn't prepared for the bad. When something bad happens in your life, marriage, job - What do you do? Do you stay? Do you leave? What is your line in the sand? What is worth fighting for?

While sparing you the details, I wanted to share some of the lessons that I learned from this stormy season.

Perspective
You go through hard times. Hard times don't go through you. Take your life challenges and find the perspective. Take your mess, and look at it with your new found perspective, and think about how you can turn it into something positive.

Investment

Hard lessons are like an investment in your emotional bank. You may not have been making deposits regularly, but now you realize how complex, resilient, and amazing you are - and how important these investments are.

Predetermined
There is an Asian proverb known as the "Red String of Fate". It's this idea that everything and everyone in your life is predetermined. People who you meet, marry and interact with. Places that you go. Jobs that you have. Things that happen to you. It's this idea that, no matter what you do (or don't do), your life and your fate is already predetermined. Find comfort in this idea.

Forgiveness

Forgiveness is more for YOU than for the person you're forgiving.

Growth

Take your challenge and let it forever change you. Let it make you wiser and stronger and more of a BAD ASS than you even thought possible. With every obstacle, brings a great opportunity.

Lastly, I want to say that we ALL go through our stormy seasons. But I challenge you to think about how you choose to weather your storm. Do you let it get the best of you? or do you use it, learn from it and flourish?
