Blogging about Baltimore

Thanks to my job, I had the opportunity to visit a new city a few weeks ago... Baltimore, Maryland!

What a fun experience it was! I fit A LOT into our 4-day trip (both work and play).

I arrived early on Monday March 6, checked into my hotel (Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor at Camden Yards), then headed to the Baltimore Convention Center to set up our booth and get some work done. After our work was over, we were inspired to take a quick, afternoon trip to Washington D.C - and what a fun, little trip it was!

We rode the train from Baltimore Penn Station to Washington D.C. Union Station and then grabbed a taxi over to the mall area. We visited the Lincoln Memorial, checked out the reflecting pool, and took some pictures in front of the Washington Monument. We then walked over to The White House - funny story, we visited The White House the DAY BEFORE they opened it back up for public tours. Darn ... so close! We finished our trip with dinner at Nando's in Dupont Circle.

Tuesday was full of work and then another night time adventure. After we finished with our tradeshow for the day, we headed to the Inner Harbor for dinner. We walked around a bit and then ate dinner at Phillip's. My one requirement on this trip was crab, crab, and lot's of crab. And I definitely got that! After dinner, we went next door to the super cool, super historic Barnes & Noble that is located inside of an old power plant!

Wednesday was also full of tradeshow busy-ness, and then off to another adventure. Tonight - Water Taxi to Fell's Point! Baltimore is full of history and this neighborhood was so fun! We hopped around to a few of the bars, including The Horse You Came In On - America's oldest saloon (established in 1775) and the last place that Edgar Allen Poe was spotted before he died. So cool!

Thursday was our last day of the tradeshow, so we closed it out in style. After we were done, we had some time to kill before it was time to head to the airport. We had a lovely, leisurely lunch at the Rusty Scupper with a beautiful view of the bay and LITERALLY the most delicious crab chowder that I have ever had in my life. Remember the mission - crab, crab, and more crab.

It was then time to head back home to my babes! Until next time, Baltimore!
