The Juggle Is Real: 8 Tips for juggling working, wife-ing, and mom-ing full time.

Being a working woman, Terrance’s wife,
Carter’s mother and all of the other things that I am can leave me feeling a
little overwhelmed. I have found that the key is to focus on a plan, get organized, and find the right balance
between work and home. Here are 8 tips to help make sure both your career and
your family flourish.
Plan ahead
I like to lay
out all of my son’s clothes for the week on Sunday afternoons, making our
mornings run a lot smoother. From laying out clothes, pre-packing lunches the
night before, or having the coffee machine set and ready to go – planning ahead
makes me feel less flustered and ready to take on my day.
Let go of the guilt.
Easier said
than done, but I try to think of the awesome example I am setting for my
family.
Be efficient with your time.
This goes
hand-in-hand with planning ahead. Make a schedule and stick to it. Avoid time
sucking activities when you can, and do your best to stick to your routine.
Tip: Spend one day writing down exactly how you spent your time and see if
there is a more efficient way you can delegate your energy and hours. This is a
game changer!
Find and lean on your village.
Between
daycare, babysitters, family, etc., it literally takes a village and you need a
strong one. Work on fostering your relationships and building a village that
you love and trust.
Me Time
Even if it’s
just a weekly manicure, or a daily 30-minute run on the treadmill, “me-time” is
essential. You did these things before baby came or before your life got busy,
what makes you think that you wouldn’t need them now? A regular girls dinner or
some time to just sit in peace and watch reality TV can do wonders for your
soul and in turn, make you a better partner and mother.
Be firm in what you need from work.
Whether you
work for yourself or for someone else, be firm in what you need to be able to
manage your life. If you need to work from home, or be in the office. If you
need to come in early or come in late – whatever it is, be sure to communicate
what you need.
Create your own family traditions.
It doesn’t
matter what you do just do it together and make these a priority. After a
stressful day at work, this is something to look forward to. Taco Tuesday
anyone?
