Do a test run with new recipes
If you want to avoid any unplanned surprises on Thanksgiving day, stick to the tried-and-true receipes that you know you can do well. OR practice in advance to work out any kinks so you can be fully prepared the day of.

Plan ahead
Write down a game plan. Easy side dishes? Make them a day or two in advance. Delegate plans and create a schedule so you can watch the parade, run the turkey trot and still get everything out on time.

Have a clean & organized kitchen
Starting with a clean, organized kitchen, means you’ll spend less time tidying up or searching for tools, and more time cooking and enjoying your family. Also, be sure to stock your fridge and pantry with staples a few days before.

Quality vs. Quantity
The goal is to leave your guests happy and full. You don’t want to have leftovers for weeks that end up being tossed out. Determine your headcount and cook accordingly.

Keep it simple
Simple mac & cheese, five minute Hawaiian rolls, easy apple tarts – determine where you can make your favorite dishes easier and faster.

Let guests serve themselves
Where possible, try to set up a “serve yourself” bar that allows guests to easily serve themselves. It saves time and allows for guests to make their plates how they like them.

Don’t sweat the small stuff
Keep it in perspective and remember that the holidays are about enjoying your time off work and with your family. Things can easily get busy and stressful, but whether your meal came out like your Pinterest board, relax and enjoy your time together.

Can’t wait to hear all about your holidays!
