31 Weeks

Hi!!

Sorry for my delay in posting. There really is no excuse, other than being a busy pregnant mama, being at the happiest place on earth and "tropical storm Bill". Long story short, I haven't been on my computer much for non-work related things and I am playing catch up... Let's start with baby news. This week we are 31 (ish) weeks pregnant.

If you're wondering why I say "ish" when describing how far along we are in the pregnancy, well, that little Carter Warren is throwing us for a loop with how big he actually is. Dr. Boon, my OBGYN, had said from the beginning that he looked a week or so ahead of the August 24th due date. And THEN, when I had my gallbladder surgery, the surgeon said that he looks SEVERAL weeks ahead of my due date. Hmmm... sounds to me like little Carter may be making an appearance a little earlier than we thought ...

Nevertheless, we will continue with our baby count. According to TheBump.com, during week 31 of pregnancy, the average fetus measures about 15.2 to 16.7 inches and weighs about 2.5-3.8 pounds. All five of his senses are fully developed! He also keeps getting smarter. That’s probably good to know, since I feel a little dumb as I find myself acting absentmindedly during this third trimester. Some say that “pregnancy brain” isn’t a proven physical ailment, but I literally cannot think of another time in my life when I've had more on my mind than right now. From 31 weeks on, it says that I am bound to feel a lot of the same symptoms -- some may get worse, some may become bearable. And I might start to have more trouble getting around as I get heavier and feel more and more short of breath. I need to remember not to push myself too much and rest when I can. Thankfully, I only have a few more weeks of work and then it's rest time and countdown to baby!

Pregnancy Symptoms at 31 Weeks

  • Out of breath, since baby keeps squishing your lungs.
  • Dry, brittle nails, thanks to all that extra nail growth.
  • Braxton Hicks contractions. Be sure you're drinking plenty of water and changing positions often.
  • Frequent urination. Your bladder's just as crowded as your lungs.
  • Back aches. Be sure to keep stretching.
  • Difficulty sleeping. Aches and pains, your big belly, pregnancy hormones, heartburn and anxiety are probably all contributing.

In non-baby-news, we had an amazing weekend at the happiest place on earth! Can't wait to post all about it tomorrow! OH and I am getting closer to transitioning my blog to my real, live, website! Continue to stay tuned about the big move.

Xoxo,

Mel
