A fun and relaxing weekend in the Texas Hill Country

By Melody Warren - 1:38:00 PM

T and I had a wonderful and relaxing weekend in the Texas Hill Country with our sweet friends, Steve & Carol Lesem.

Above is a picture of my Sunday morning cappuccino on the back porch of their lake house. Sigh ... so pretty.

Steve and Carol are friends of ours and have been training with Terrance for several years now. Here are some pictures of them from our wedding last year. Carol was one of our witnesses! They own a house on Lake Travis in Austin, TX and we are lucky enough to have gone this weekend for the 3rd time! Click here to read about one of our previous trips.

Back to the story of the weekend...

Here is a panoramic view of the lake from their back porch. The weather was really nice and after all of the recent rains, the lake was nice and full.

Here is a picture of Terrance on the staircase leading down to the boat dock. Handsome man and great view!

A dream of ours is to be able to one day have our own place near a body of water. On Saturday night, Steve and Carol took us to Llano, TX to their friends ranch. Wow! It was such a fun and interesting experience. Firstly, the difference between Houston and the Texas Hill Country is night and day. The sights, sounds, and smells are different. You feel that you're miles and miles away from home, but you're only about 3 hours away. This is one of the many reasons why I love Texas!

We arrived at the Honey Creek Ranch in Llano, TX on Saturday afternoon and were amazed at everything that we saw and learned. Chase & Jana's property is about 500 acres and is full of cattle, deer, wild turkeys, grasshoppers, and a TON of Texas History.

What are you looking at?

A view from the front yard of Chase & Jana's cabin on the property. They have several buildings on the property that allow for plenty of comfortable sleeping arrangements.

They say that everything is bigger in Texas! Is this the largest grasshopper that you've ever seen, or what?

A view inside of the main cabin on the property.

Carol, Jana and myself at the top of the highest hill on their property (about 1,600 feet above sea level) watching the sun set. Life is good.

Terrance, Chase and Steve watching the sun set in Texas comfort - in the back of a pick up truck!

What did you do this weekend? I want to hear about it!

Xoxo,
Mel
